Best Everyday Bag 2019
The Best Everyday Bag is the ultimate all-rounder. A piece that transitions from work to the weekend, organizing day-to-day gear well and adapting easily to changing loads and environments…
When The Brown Buffalo’s Conceal Backpack first launched on the carry scene, it captured our attention with its craftsmanship, style and hand feel, and an intuitive design that just made so much sense.
And now, Douglas Davidson, has made it even better. Enter the Conceal Backpack V3, with a design equipped with an armoury of updates that pushes this Conceal to another level.
The latest configuration (available in 19L and 26L) swaps in a burly 1050D Ballistic CORDURA® Nylon and adds a Ballistic Nylon base, so it will withstand heavier abuse – built for the long haul, with master-level USA-made construction.
The pack serves up new organization with a removable Porterpen Pouch and a removable 15″ laptop sleeve that can detach and sling over a shoulder bag when you need to carry light.
In addition, you’ll find a 15″ laptop pocket now on the back panel, a sternum strap, repositioned shoulder straps to fit more body types, and an updated reverse coil zipper for smoother opening and closing.
Complementing the internals is a pared-back exterior – minimal with a punch of street style. Its sleek silhouette and compact profile looks smart in work settings in black, and killer in camo when you want that urban vibe.
Designed by a master bag maker with incredible thought and insight, and built to handle a variety of changing carry needs with ease, the Conceal Backpack V3 is a truly superior pack for your everyday adventures. And a pack that you’ll carry for years to come. A remarkable effort, Brown Buffalo!
These are the pieces that just missed out, and in most cases, by the smallest of margins. To them, we award a High Commendation. The below were of outstanding quality, displaying fine craftsmanship and design flair. With honor, we bow our heads in the utmost respect and kudos. If this were a dais, they’d be biting their teeth into silver medals, while their flags were hoisted into the horizon – a feat not to be overlooked. And we’re sure they’ll be back, to take it one notch higher, next year.
Triple Aught Design’s third iteration of the award winning Axiom, the 24, is a pack that has impressed so many this year. Becoming the new favorite pack for many a Carryologist. And for damn good reason. Designed to serve EDC and travel needs for 1-3 day trips, it combines a super clean exterior with tough, weatherproof USA-made construction that nails the work commute, day hikes, and travels further afield.
The pack is made with bomber VX-21 ripstop shell and wide, padded straps for all-day carry comfort and protection from the elements. And you’ve got an assortment of organization options to keep you on top of your gear, including a fully padded 15″ laptop compartment, interior PALS webbing and side pockets that bellow into the main compartment so you don’t sacrifice the pack’s sleek profile. Versatile enough to adapt to urban and outdoor environments alike, with practical organization and a durable, comfy build to take on changing daily carry needs, the Axiom 24 Pack is one of the best packs we’ve ever carried, period. Fantastic work, Triple Aught Design!
