Tailfeather: New product range and pop-up shop
To coincide with the launch of Tailfeather’s new product range and their first pop-up shop, we thought we’d provide you with a bit of background and a taste of what’s on offer.  Tailfeather is an Australian-based leather and canvas goods company from the creative minds of husband and wife team Scottie Neoh (a painter and illustrator) and Natalia Perez (who has a textile and design background).  Products include bags, scarves, belts and wallets.  Each Tailfeather piece is hand-crafted in their home studio and is designed to combine functionality with style.  You can get a feel for some of their earlier products here.
The season launches on 16 August and the pop-up shop is open from 17-26 August at the No-Vacancy Gallery.  See here for details.  New products include the Peregrine, a compact and beautiful messenger.

For tote fans, the Whimbrel stands out immediately for its quality and style.

If backpacks are your preferred mode of carry, be prepared to covet the Wanderer.

We think all the offerings are awesome but since this is just a taster (and there’s just far too many drool-worthy pics to include all of them), we’ll give some spotlight attention to the Wanderer and you can stare longingly at the others here.

The Wanderer is stitched by hand and laser etched.  Inside are separate sections for your laptop and phone in addition to the main compartment.

Now we like to give you a fair view of products, so here comes the wince part.  Tailfeather products are not cheap.  If you buy a Tailfeather product, chances are you won’t be buying any other carry products for a while.  However, bear in mind that each piece is crafted from top-quality materials and many hours of work are put into constructing each piece by hand.  These are bags you keep for a lifetime and pass down through the generations (what you buy today could be carried by your grandchild).  If you focus on that, plus the fact that you’ll be too distracted by its stunning looks to ponder the fact that you might not be eating much for the next while (who needs food when you can carry this beauty on your back), it’s a pretty good deal after all.
