Veja
Veja has been around for about 8 years, which kinda makes me a little embarrassed I hadn’t stumbled across them any early [Ed note: Tut, tut. You mustn’t be following our Twitter then, ‘cos we blag about them there]. Especially given their efforts in maintaining eco friendly ranges; from organic and fair trade cotton to leathers tanned with acacia extracts – a natural, non-polluting tannin.
But the main reason for the post is to let you know that they have just dropped their debut range of wallets and laptop sleeves. Read on…
Both the laptop sleeves and wallets are quite nice looking, with the laptop sleeves really catching my eye. Simple colors and a design that works easily (I swear so many companies try to make a laptop cover more than it needs to be and forget all about KISS). A nice canvas outer and cotton inner is keeping your laptop protected from harms way. Five colors to choose from.
The wallets are interesting with the addition of a Moleskine like closure system – you know that bit of elastic that keeps your Moleskine all tight and sturdy, yeah, well these wallets have it as well. Pretty good for those of you who are still struggling to shed that Costanza in your back pocket….
From what I can gather from the information I’ve read, Veja are doing a pretty good job at keeping it honest with the creation of a global chain that emphasizes solidarity and the environment ranging from the small producers in Brazil all the way to the European concept stores – meaning even the dude tanning the leathers (toxic free of course) is getting full workers rights. Nice.
Always nice to see companies doing good work like this. Oh and have fun with the website, it’s in French…
