Best EDC Results – The Fifth Annual Carry Awards
Creating a useful solution to a carry problem is a noteworthy achievement. But making the effort to improve and refine that solution is also worthy of recognition. And that’s what the Orbitkey 2.0 does, taking a good thing and making it even better. The Orbitkey 2.0 hones key elements of the original design, creating an even slimmer profile by reducing the hardware thickness, and utilizing a thinner screw diameter for increased compatibility with more keys. The updated version is also easier to assemble, and swaps out aluminum hardware for stainless steel hardware to improve durability.
The bands get an update too, replacing the original flat leather band with a cushioned leather band, delivering a new pattern and colors for the rubber band, and adding a new canvas band to the lineup. In addition to keys the Orbitkey 2.0 is also compatible with accessories such as a USB 3.0 flashdrive and multitool, providing an easily portable solution for organizing multiple EDC items. The compact form of the Orbitkey 2.0 is not only great for keeping pocket bulge at bay, but also plays well with other items in your pocket or bag, so you don’t need to worry about damaging your phone or wallet.
The Orbitkey 2.0 builds on a functional and useful design, taking it to the next level with reduced bulk and a more user-friendly design. Congratulations, Orbitkey, your refined design delivers jingle-free calm to key chaos and is a worthy addition to any EDC setup.
These are the pieces that just missed out, and in most cases, by the smallest of margins. To them, we award a High Commendation. The below were of outstanding quality, displaying fine craftsmanship and design flair. With honor, we bow our heads in the utmost respect and kudos. If this were a dais, they’d be biting their teeth into silver medals, while their flags were hoisted into the horizon – a feat not to be overlooked. And we’re sure they’ll be back, to take it one notch higher, next year.
A keychain shouldn’t be a hassle to use, and the ARKTYPE RMK gets that. Simple, efficient, yet secure, the RMK (Riflesnap Magnet Keychain) slides easily into everyday carry. Magnetic clasps keep keys or a work badge conveniently accessible without needing to detach the entire keychain from your belt or bag first. Easy to detach without looking, the clasps also automatically line up for reattachment, making the RMK quick and effortless to use.
The durable construction will also withstand daily use for years to come, combining handwoven Type III 550 Paracord with a stainless steel HK snap hook and neodymium magnets coated with hard-wearing Delrin®. Even better, you’ve got the flexibility to suspend the keychain outside of a pocket for quick access or tuck it inside for a jangle-free carry option. Great job, ARKTYPE!
Flashlights tend to be viewed as purely functional items. But the Muyshondt Aeon Mk. III goes a step further, fusing functionality and elegance into a practical and beautiful design. Compact enough to be carried in a pocket or a bag, the flashlight is precision machined in a range of materials and meticulously assembled by hand. Providing a useful source of illumination for a range of day-to-day settings and needs, the flashlight features a High CRI Nichia 219B LED for accurate color rendering, along with a pushbutton tailswitch to easily switch between 1, 15, and 160-lumen light intensities. It’s also tough enough to endure near-space conditions, so you can enjoy extra peace of mind that demanding daily use isn’t a problem for this durable flashlight. Excellent work, Muyshondt!
