Buyer’s Guide :: Weekenders
OK, it’s time for some ‘Buyer’s Guides’. We often get asked for suggestions on which bags to buy in a particular category, so we figure this way we can widely share the carry gear that gets us looking twice.

For lots of this stuff, we haven’t yet tried these bags. That’s an admission most blogs won’t make, but one we feel is important. Basically, this is the carry gear we’d be checking if we were going to buy. If you want the stuff we have Road Tested, look for the (R).

So on to the post…

A good weekender is all about relaxed style. If you want a technically awesome few-day bag, get a duffel or rucksack. A weekender is more about great fabrics, easy access, and shorter periods of actual carrying.

We’ve picked some that we think each have a style and interest that will help make you look good. If anyone has tried these, please do share in the comments below.

KILLSPENCER Weekender 2.0 (R)

Buyer’s Guide :: Weekenders
Masculine but not overtly so, minimalist, stylish, and with some banging fabrics. The 2.0 is what a weekender should be. Everyone else take notes.

Ally Capellino Freddie

Buyer’s Guide :: Weekenders
Big and slouchy with more of a fashion feel, this UK brand has been focusing on carry for the last decade, and developing a strong flavor and vibe. We like.

Property Of… Tommy Trip Bag

Buyer’s Guide :: Weekenders
The twin pocket weekender is showing up in more brands’ ranges, but Property Of… do it better than most. Thick canvas that gives structure, beautiful folds, nice leather details. Done.

Filson Oil Finish Duffle

Buyer’s Guide :: Weekenders

How weird must it be for Filson to have suddenly seen every upstart hipster brand copying their heritage feel and formats? This duffel is the least Filson-looking Filson bag they make, feeling more military and utilitarian than retro, but it also has enough style to land in our weekenders post (rather than the upcoming duffel post), so it must be doing a few things right.

Hard Graft 3Fold

Buyer’s Guide :: Weekenders
We’ve blabbed enough about these guys and the influence they have had on carry to not repeat it here. Needless to say, this bag knows lots of cool tricks, comes in buttery loveliness with its materials, and will have you falling in love with European craftsmanship.

Teddyfish 5/TLS/TF

Buyer’s Guide :: Weekenders
Amongst our Carryology team, we think Teddyfish is one of the brands to watch over the coming years. They have a fresh simplicity to their designs which maintains a strong style without resorting to embellishment.

Porter Ridge Ruck Sack

Buyer’s Guide :: Weekenders
Haha, yep, we just put a backpack in a post about weekenders. But just look at it… this bag oozes style and restrained elegance, fits a weekend’s worth of stuff in it, and will be easier to carry than most single-strap solutions. Great stuff, Porter.
