Recently, we were lucky enough to be sent a Lenore Capsule backpack from Ignoble to Road Test. Have you seen them before? They are quite a nice looking pack, to help get a gauge on how it performs we got one of our contributors, Gregory Nelson, to have a play with it. Here’s his first impressions.

Of humble origin it may be, but the Lenore Capsulre backpack from Ignoble brings a touch of class to the daily haul. Billed as an ultra robust travel bag, the Lenore capsule is a versatile way to carry from airports to bicycles or commuting.

Backpack or handheld duffle? The choice is yours. The bags functionality is built into the design with an exterior handle on the topside and a simple but effective restraint system for the shoulder straps when cinched. The pack is constructed in the USA from 1680D ballistic nylon which gives the bag a softer feel than its heavier Cordura counterparts out there at the moment. While the material lacks in comparative stiffness, its strength is just as solid.

First Impressions ::
The bag is not rectangular but is a trapezoid shape narrowing towards the opening. The airmesh padding on the back panel is separated where the restraint loops for the straps are located. This creates a fold in the pack. It’s going to be interesting to see whether this flexibility allows for better form fitting on the wearers back or compromises the load placement and carry when in duffle mode.

The internal compartment separation in the main section is good and the pack has very comfortable padded shoulder straps.

The rapid convertability from backpack to duffle should make for an easy transition from bike to boardroom. This is a very versatile and stylish pack. I’m looking forward to using it for daily commuting and longer overnight travel.
