The Department of Goods

Some really cheap (but really good) bags

Backcountry.com is a pretty neat online retailer for all sorts of outdoor gear. They’ve had an outlet concept for awhile, which has recently jumped back to our attention with a fancy rebranding to The Department Of Goods.

After spending an embarrassing amount of time drooling through it, we’ve picked out a few of the gems…

Note: This site is best for USA based viewers, but these guys do deliver internationally as well.

Snow packs
We can’t even imagine how many of these packs exist in the world… the Heli Pro is a neat allrounder for hiking some turns or beating around town remembering those turns. Price: $53.97

Ortovox are one of the best respected brands in avalanche gear, having earned their reputation through decades of dependable product. This is a women specific snowpack. Price: $77.97

Work bags
The Metro is one of our all time favorites for affordable work packs. Great organising, slim profile, but with surprising room for expansion. Price: $31.98

A bit of a Jack of all trades, the Blade works well for a travelling business person looking for a versatile carry-all. Price: $104.97

And if you would prefer a messenger, there’s a great value Timbuk2. We’ve been abusing one of these for a year now, and it’s still kicking along strong. Price: $83.97
