Black Ember’s Award-Winning Citadel Just Got Better
We’re big fans of Black Ember’s Citadel Minimal Backpack. So much so, we awarded it our Best Everyday Bag in 2018. But we also salute when brands strive to improve their offerings and make them even better. And that’s what Black Ember have done with this new iteration: the Citadel R2.
The Black Ember team took extensive customer feedback on board when creating the updated design. And the results are impressive.
Redesigned external front pocket
The Citadel R2 features a larger exterior front pocket for better stowage of small essentials. Inside it, two slip pockets have been added to up its organization points. And the magnetic keyring has now been relocated to this pocket for easier access to your house heys.
The pocket also welcomes a new laser-cut Hypalon zipper garage and pull tab at both ends of the zipper. Plus with Black Ember’s new Theft Deterrent zipper locking feature on hand, you can keep sticky fingers at bay and protect quick-access gear.
Longer top-loading access zipper
The top-loading access zipper is now longer. This allows easier access to your laptop, DSLR, and other items, improving the overall user experience.
Redesigned interior pocketing
Black Ember have updated the suspended laptop sleeve to provide better protection for your expensive tech.
And they’ve also tweaked the internal pocket array to make it easier to organize and access items throughout the main compartment.
Improved shoulder strap storage
The updated design now features a new laser-cut Hypalon flap that’s been added on top of the back panel. This flap makes it easier to stow the backpack straps if you want to convert the bag into briefcase mode or store it in a tight space without snagging the straps.
Redesigned 3D shoulder straps
Black Ember re-engineered the composite construction of the straps, which feature dual layers of EVA foam and a durable spacer mesh for comfort and breathability even over extended periods of use.
Want your own?
The Black Ember Citadel R2 builds on a great everyday backpack, improving it for even better functionality and comfort. All while maintaining Black Ember’s bomber build and sleek aesthetic. If you want to make it your own, it’s available now through Black Ember’s website.
