Welcome to the Week In Review where we’re checking out folks getting creative with recycled materials, a new office-friendly carry collection specifically for women and a phone wallet that aims to cover all your pocket carry needs…

Streamlined tech carry for the working woman

Week In Review ~ 6 April

If sleek, minimalist carry that easily accommodates work and leisure environments has a nice ring to it, Crumpler’s new BELL collection is definitely one to check out. Blending the past and present, the pieces bear the pseudonyms of the Brontë sisters as a tribute to their perseverance, talent and intelligence but with features that suit the modern woman’s carry needs. The collection incorporates five tech-oriented pieces for carrying laptops, tablets and iPads. Small and large handbags sit side by side with a backpack, pouch and laptop folio, each of which is made from Oxford Weave peached nylon for weather resistance and features leather handles and detailing.

Practical quality for urban adventures

Nordenstudio is a relatively young brand that launched in 2013 but they are keen to make an impact with their collection of simple and practical designs that merge everyday functionality with urban style and high-quality materials. Based in Portugal, the brand creates two collections a year and currently offers handbags, a pouch and a wallet all made from calfskin.

Light in weight, inexpensive, available in a choice of six colorways and made from eco-friendly materials…if you want a guilt-free reason to add to your carry collection then the new tote bag from flip & tumble is it. The tote is constructed using recyled plastic bottles which are made into rPET fabric that in turn is used to make the bag. The tote accommodates all sorts of uses, from beach carry to hauling groceries, and is machine-washable.

Grab-and-go carry for all your EDC needs

Following a successful Kickstarter campaign KYNEZ has released their CAZLET phone wallet for the extended market beyond campaign backers. The CAZLET is designed as a one-stop carry solution for the likes of your phone, cash, cards, key or other small item and a SIM card. The wallet utilizes a self-locking YKK zipper and can be customized with a range of accessories such as a hand strap, ID sleeve, coin pocket and card band. Currently the wallet accommodates an iPhone 5s/5 but different versions to suit other phone models are currently in the development stage.

A “materials first” approach

Week In Review ~ 6 April

Uliko Studio believes in letting the materials of their carry creations speak for themselves. As such, the materials they utilize aren’t just means of making a design a reality; they are a crucial part of the design itself. Each piece is stitched by hand in the design studio using materials that range from textiles and leathers that have been salvaged from the footwear industry to raw recycled leather material.
