GORUCK releases GR1 Heritage + GIVEAWAY!

Our friends down in sunny Florida have been working on these for some time now… the GR1 Heritage. Simply put, the GR1 Heritage has all the features and everything you know and love about the GR1, with Indiana Jones vibes… plus a little extra secret with the 26L version.

Available in both 21L and 26L sizes; the GR1 Heritage is a limited edition run of backpacks that will surely be close to selling out by the time you’ve arrived here to this sentence. This Heritage collection comes in three super handsome colorways; Field Tan, Dark Oak, and Olive.

What makes them “Heritage”? Well, GORUCK opted to swap out their their standard 1000D Cordura nylon and replaced it throughout the pack with 10.10oz Army Duck Martexin Waxed Cotton Canvas from Fairfield Textile out of New Jersey, USA (since 1838). Rounding out that waxed cotton canvas aesthetic, they decided to clean up the exterior and remove the MOLLE/PALS webbing.

And the beautiful leather they used on the bottom base, the grab handle, and the patch (removable Velcro, not stitched on)… that’s from Red Wing, Minnesota. Yes, that Red Wing, Minnesota. Specifically, it’s an amber harness full-grain oil-tanned leather that will get more handsome to more you use it.

And what about that extra trick up their sleeves on the 26L? Well, it’s not really up their sleeves… it’s in the zippered pocket. Brand new for GORUCK, there’s a hidden accessory pocket up near the grab handle on the larger of the two. While the addition of one pocket might not be some major news for other pack brands, Jason and his team are obsessive about making sure things work (and work perfectly) before they launch any changes. This new feature is a welcome addition, in our eyes.
