Get Comfortable: Best Joggers and Loungers for Men 2020

by , October 13, 2020

The past few months have fundamentally impacted the way we all work. Working from home is the new norm for a lot of us and with that change in environment also comes a change in work garb. The need for being ‘formal’ has significantly dropped. Instead of sharp suits and clean silhouettes, we’re turning to pieces that offer that little bit of extra comfort.

The best joggers and loungers on the market offer that stroll-around-the-house comfort we’re seeking. And they’ve come a long way in the style department too.

From scruffy to comfortably styling

Joggers and loungers have traditionally been relegated to the gym, working out, and lazy weekend relaxation at home. But styles have caught up with modern-day demands. Now you can pick and choose from an abundance of sweet and comfortable offerings, while stepping up your style game with more tailored silhouettes and quality materials.

Western Rise Spectrum Jogger

What’s the difference between joggers and sweatpants?

Sometimes the terms “joggers” and “sweatpants” are used interchangeably. Confusingly, either may occassionally be referred to as track pants too (though this happens more often with sweatpants). However, there are differences between the garments.

Materials

In general, joggers tend to be more lightweight with thinner materials, allowing for better breathability while you’re running or otherwise on the move. They’re also a good choice for warmer summer months.

Sweatpants tend to focus more on providing warmth, with features such as heavier and thicker fabrics. Handy when temperatures start dropping or you’re simply after that extra cozy factor.

Style

Joggers also favor a tapered design, with elastic cuffs at the ankles. Again, fitted features such as elasticated cuffs benefit activities such as running. Sweatpants tend to have a slightly more casual, loose-fitting design, including at the ankles. Like most things, there are exceptions to the rule and some sweatpants embrace a tapered look too.

Features

Both joggers and sweatpants can offer technical benefits such as moisture-wicking fabrics and freedom of movement, which are useful features when you’re working up a sweat during a workout. These benefits paired with the ability to dress a lot of them up or down gives flexbility and freedom in everyday wear and travel wardrobe use too.

Pairing a jogger with a button-down shirt and smart-casual footwear can provide an elevated look on your travels or in a relaxed work environment. All while still enjoying that oh-so-important comfort.

So with the above in mind, where should you spend your hard-earned cash if you’re after casual style and comfort? We’ve rounded up some of the best joggers and loungers for men to suit a range of settings, budgets, and style preferences…
