Embracing the holiday good vibes, getting clever with magnets and carbon fiber and making sure your camera lenses arrive at their destination safe and sound. Welcome to the Week In Review…
Old-world inspiration for today’s traveler
Moreca’s Phoenix Super Constellation GT aircraft is a concept design inspired by the Lockheed Super Constellation (Connie) aircraft – and accompanying the concept is Moreca’s Phoenix collection, which takes its cues from the aircraft design. Featuring two new limited edition backpacks for the modern globetrotter, the collection includes the Aviator PH-1 which was created for men, while the dimensions and weight of the Aviatrix PH-2 backpack were designed with women in mind. The construction of the backpacks is based off steamer bags, with a vegetable-tanned leather featuring an aged aesthetic that conjures images of adventure and old-world charm. Sling one of these packs over your shoulder and all thoughts of work will be left behind in the quest to get exploring.
Surviving the journey to capture the destination
Fierce wildlife and grueling natural environments are nothing compared to the tremor of fear that ripples through photographers when they have to check in fragile and expensive camera equipment. MindShift Gear’s new FirstLight packs however give some much-needed peace of mind. The three outdoor photography backpacks were created for comfortably carrying large lenses and enable photographers to carry anything from a 70-200mm to a 600mm lens. In addition, the packs come in sizes that comply with airline carry-on restrictions, so photographers can keep them close at hand rather than sweating it out at the baggage carousel in trepidation. A contoured and adjustable torso harness provides comfort while on the go and the included rain cover also doubles as a ground cloth. In addition to camera equipment and personal items, the 20L and 30L sizes fit a 15-inch laptop, while the 40L pack fits a 17-inch laptop. The 30L and 40L sizes also have a dedicated pocket for a hydration bladder.
Your essentials, carried your way
When you’re out and about in urban settings the chances are pretty high that you’ll be carrying a larger bag than you need to. Sometimes though you just need something smaller, sleeker and more versatile. The Urban Pack from Loft of Cambie aims to be a multi-purpose carry solution for hauling the essentials. The coated twill canvas and leather detailing looks chic in work and leisure settings and the four-in-one design makes for a functional bag that works around you rather than the other way around. Convert it to a sling pack, crossbody pack, shoulder pack or hip pack depending on your needs. A cord wrap, velvet-lined pockets for tech and valuables, plus further exterior and interior pockets for organizing your bits and pieces all enhance the user-friendly design of the bag. The Urban Pack has more than doubled its Kickstarter goal but there’s plenty of time left to slot one into your EDC.
Card carry with magnetic appeal
Some wallets are thin and lightweight, others are designed to take a beating, and a few put the focus on an aesthetic wow factor. Try finding a wallet that combines all of these features while also being easily customizable to your needs. It’s a struggle – and then the Keplero wallet sweeps onto the scene, packing all of these features into one compact and sleek package. This carbon fiber wallet has a thin, lightweight and modular design held together using magnets. This lets you quickly arrange cards in any order you want and carry only the ones you need to suit different outings. The wallet also includes a money clip for banknotes when you need some cash on hand. Check out the Kickstarter campaign to get your hands on this card carrier that’s sure to be a conversation starter.

With bold colorways and fun fruity linings, the travel bags from SAINT LUKE are just the sort of laidback companions you want for your next adventure – after all, nothing says Caribbean calling quite like pineapples greeting you every time you open your bag.
