Looking Back…

Before we share what’s coming next, we wanted to take a moment to look back at where it all began.

Carryology wasn’t born from a business plan. It started as an intuition — a late-night, after-hours passion project brainstormed around a kitchen table in 2008, and officially launched on November 5, 2009.

At the time, there were designers, brands, and makers all working across luggage and bags and things we carry inside them — but no single word to unite them.

That word turned out to be “carry”.

Bellroy launched around the same time — also from that same kitchen table — and the two grew up together, side by side.

It all started in a cramped shared office. The early days were scrappy, collaborative, and full of energy. Review samples piled to the ceiling. Printed zines made their way to trade shows. The first collaborations were with Topo Designs and Mystery Ranch, and the community began to grow.

Over the years, the team evolved. New voices joined. Each one drawn in by the same thing: a love of stories, great design, and the idea that what you carry says something about where you’re going.

That DNA hasn’t changed.
