Ando takes himself pretty seriously. Almost as seriously as he takes carrying. He’s designed, engineered, marketed and businessed with loads of brands, but has now chucked it all in for a quiet life in coastal Australia. He’ll write reviews that run for pages, he’ll never think a carry piece is fully resolved, and he’ll always call it out if it should be. Oh, and he’s a co-founder of Carryology.

Hello Ando and the people at Carryology,
First of all I would like to thank-you for this site. It has opened my eyes to so many new products and has revealed to me an obsession I never knew I had – bags and this whole thing about carry. This site has steered me to Bellroy wallets, Timbuk2 Commuter messanger and Mission Workshop Rambler. And I’m sure more to come.
Which brings me to make this suggestion. I have explored your site extensively in search of this topic but I cannot find anything. Or please steer me in the right direction if I have missed it. It’s concerning the topic of bike panniers. Since many of the readership appear to be cycle enthusiasts it may be a very interesting topic to explore – what are the great bike panniers? Especially ones that can convert to a carry bag once the bike is safely parked. This is my biggest problem with my current pannier selection – a cumbersome bag that is impossible to lug once my feet on on the ground.
I would welcome your feedback and thoughts.
Cheers
Doug
Thanks for getting in touch Doug. And thanks for your kind words.
Yeah, we haven’t really done enough covering panniers. We did a DIY post awhile back: http://www.carryology.com/2010/10/26/make-your-own-bicycle-pannier/
But that’s not really enough. OK, we’ll try and get to it.
In the meantime, check out the Timbuk2 offering: http://www.timbuk2.com/tb2/shop?q=panniers

Hello carryology. I seem to be in a pickle with choosing between two bags. I’ve had a Northface recon for about 3 years, treated it pretty good but a bag can only handle so much. I am a student and I commute heavily on my bike. I hope to tap into your guy’s collective knowledge in carry to help me decide between two bags. The first is the Mission Workshop Fitzroy (standard). The second is a bag from south Korean based T-level. The bag is called the deluxe 41L. Heres a link;Â http://www.strykerlosangeles.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=43_51&products_id=126&zenid=5debd86897138c99f9c01d72a99e9f20Â
I know they appear like two totally different bags, but both appeal to me. Any help is appreciated, even recommendations for other bags.Â
Much appreciation, Alex C.Â
Ps maybe you guys should add a Q and A section just for questions like such.Â
Can’t get that link to work Alex. Do you mean the 43L? http://www.doobybrain.com/2012/02/22/t-level-deluxe-43l-backpack/
We don’t have access to T-Level bags, so it’s a hard one for us to talk about. Their reputation is certainly strong though…
Yes that’s it. It’s good to know they have a good reputation, that is certainly helpful. So from the pics what do you guys think (or yourself) about the comparison.
The 43L is a really big pack. I’d only go that if you haul lots of stuff.
If you just carry the regular stuff each day, go the MW.
Thanks for the assertive answer. Haha
By the way, I really appreciate what you guys do here. Keep up the good work
Hey Ando,
Love the work… keep it up buddy.
When are you planning to be in SoCal? Would love to have you stop by the workshop sometime…
