Beyond Luggage

Core77 recently had a post about some really innovative luggage concepts. We tweeted it, however we realise that many of our readers are not yet playing with Twitter, so here is a quick summary with our comments added…

In design and marketing school, there is a classic lesson from Theodore Levitt:
“People don’t want to buy a quarter-inch drill. They want a quarter-inch hole.”

Many luggage makers have got stuck on making ‘suitcases’, and have forgotten about all the core jobs you are trying to get done as you move between destinations.

Designer Alberto Villarreal and his Agent consultancy have worked to rethink some of those other jobs, and explored 3 concept pieces that would better assist mobility for a modern family.

His Move-On concepts are better explained with the images and video, so we’ll shut up and let the pictures tell the story.
