A post about things we don’t carry

Have you ever bought a slim and sleek laptop, to later find that the charger is enormous and anvil-like? Or taken your phone overseas accompanied by a bulging bag full of adapters, car chargers, and spare batteries?

It’s funny, but it wasn’t until recently when I scored a USB charged bike light that I realised cumbersome adapters are increasingly an annoyance of the past…

The wonders of standardisation have replaced the tangled mess of chargers and adapters with one such charger, and then my laptop USB ports filled with lights and phones, music players, cameras and hard-disks. My laptop now serves as a power station for most of my toys, radically reducing the bundle jungle I need to carry.

So this is a short post to say thanks to Ajay and all those USB co-inventors. Universal charging points are reducing the cord spaghetti, and helping us improve the way we carry… or don’t carry as the case may be.
