Everlane Weekender

Love it or hate it, you have to give credit to the team at Everlane for starting things off with a bang. Their famous info-graphic “Why your t-shirt costs $50” posted on their Tumbler late last year definitely piqued consumer interest and even angered some manufacturers. Like Warby Parker, Everlane is a new breed of direct to consumer company. Part manufacturer, part retailer, the company is confident it can make a line of basics, cut out the middleman, and sell it to you, for less. Business strategy aside, I was particularly interested in their newest release: The Weekender.

The bag is 100% canvas with leather detailing (in high stress areas, plus the strap). It has sports double hand straps but no shoulder strap, optional or otherwise. Apparently, this was a design consideration and from the pictures it looks like they made the hand straps longer to pull double duty on your shoulder, if needed. It comes in four colorways that only vary in the accent color and the dimensions mean it’ll fit easily in the overhead bin. They maintain separate pages for the bag on the men’s and women’s sides but from what I can see, they are identical bags.

Priced at $95 USD, The Weekender keeps with Everlane’s mantra of $100 or less. For a two-night outing, it looks like it’s the perfect size for me. What do you guys think?
