<p><strong>A Carry Inspired Playlist | Music</strong></p>
<p>We thought it might be cool to sling together a musical playlist of sorts that revolve around carry inspired song titles. We threw the idea out to those glorious social networking platforms of twitter and facebook and the below is what we came up with&#8230;</p>
<p><span id="more-2483"></span></p>
<p>Most of the songs have links to iTunes where you can buy them (no, no affiliate marketing here), just trying to make it easy to buy any if you want&#8230;</p>
<p>Overall it was something we thought might be fun and light to have a look at over the weekend. if you have songs to add, drop them in the comments and we will add to them the list.</p>
<p>Nick Cave – <a href="http://itunes.apple.com/au/album/carry-me-dusseldorf/id211720832?i=211721084" target="_blank">Carry Me</a><br />

<h2>The Anti Wallet</h2>
<p>No matter how small you can make a wallet, it will still be too big for some.</p>
<p>So crew start cutting and hacking and unearthing all sorts of ways to carry their pocket contents without the traditional wallets they are trying hard to avoid.</p>
<p>We&#8217;ve collected a few of the &#8216;anti wallet&#8217; strategies we&#8217;ve seen over the years, and tried to share some examples of the better ones. As always, if we&#8217;ve missed something, or you have better examples, we&#8217;d love to hear from you…</p>
<p><span id="more-1134"></span></p>
<h3><strong>The Squeeze</strong></h3>
<p><strong><a href="http://carryology-assets.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/photo.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1062" title="The Squeeze has a short life" src="http://carryology-assets.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/photo.jpg" alt="Jam as much as you can in to a card carrier" width="580" height="427" /></a><br />
</strong></p>
<p><strong> </strong> Take a slim case that was intended to just carry a few cards, and fill until bursting. Magic wallets, business card cases, and ID pouches are the most commonly abused.</p>
<h3>The Hack</h3>
<p><a href="http://carryology-assets.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/m@.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1063" title="The Hack is not great for protection" src="http://carryology-assets.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/m@.jpg" alt="Tiny makeshift wallet" width="580" height="435" /></a></p>
<p>This can be an old plastic bus sleeve, a stitched piece of sail cloth, or a bit of duct tape magic. It needs to be very thin, kinda basic, and should never be pulled out in front of a client.</p>
<h3>The Clip (a variant is the band)</h3>
<p><a href="http://carryology-assets.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/Clip.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1064" title="The Clip" src="http://carryology-assets.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/Clip.jpg" alt="Bulldog clip as a wallet strategy" width="580" height="369" /></a></p>
<p>Money clips, rubber bands, bulldog clips or any number of constraining devices. There is zero protection with these, but it does cut a very slim profile.</p>
<h3>The Nude</h3>
<p><a href="http://carryology-assets.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/NudeWallet.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1065" title="The Nude" src="http://carryology-assets.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/NudeWallet.jpg" alt="Sometimes no wallet can be a wallet strategy" width="580" height="387" /></a></p>
<p>This is the commando of wallet strategies. It almost doesn&#8217;t get any slimmer. Just make sure you have good pockets. Note: some strategies for The Nude rely on your partner having a handbag that you can rent space in. Partners must be willing for this to work.</p>
<h3>The Nada</h3>
<p><a href="http://carryology-assets.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/NadaWallet.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1066" title="The Nada – Can no wallet be a wallet?" src="http://carryology-assets.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/NadaWallet.jpg" alt="No wallet is a wallet" width="580" height="387" /></a></p>
<p>OK, OK, there is one even more minimal strategy, and it&#8217;s generally employed by your most low-life friends. We&#8217;re pretty sure they own some cards and cash, but you&#8217;ve never seen them, and certainly never on a Friday night.</p>
<p>-</p>
<p>Have we missed any?</p>
<p>Do you have a great example you&#8217;re keen to share?</p>

<p>This is a short post about a wallet. But a really nice wallet, that we&#8217;ve loved for ages.</p>
<p>The Maxx &amp; Unicorn Bi-Fold wallet comes from a young Brooklyn designer who makes really interesting accessories.  His carry items all have an innovative twist – with the wallets usually made from a single folded piece of leather.<span id="more-675"></span></p>
<p>You can get the Bi-Fold in a large variety of colors and leather treatments, with most of them produced in pretty low runs.</p>
<p>They&#8217;re available at <a href="http://alterbrooklyn.blogspot.com/2009/08/re-stock-maxx-unicorn-wallets.html" target="_blank">Alter</a>, <a href="http://www.supermarkethq.com/search/products/maxx+and+unicorn" target="_blank">Supermarket</a>, and a bunch of other nice boutiques.</p>
<p><a href="http://alterbrooklyn.blogspot.com/2010/05/re-stock-maxx-unicorn-wallets.html"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-679" title="wallet_alter_card" src="http://carryology-assets.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/wallet_alter_card.jpeg" alt="" width="416" height="228" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://y-n-m.blogspot.com/2009/05/yes-maxx-unicorn-wallets.html"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-680" title="[kid_group_3_CROP_full.jpg" src="http://carryology-assets.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/kid_group_3_CROP_full.jpg.jpeg" alt="" width="415" height="310" /></a></p>
<p>Or if you&#8217;d prefer to buy what we think is a &#8216;remarkably similar&#8217; design, there&#8217;s always the Woolrich wallet that looks almost identical and is more expensive to boot.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.uncrate.com/men/style/wallets/woolrich-john-rich-bros-wallet/"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-677" title="Woolrich John Rich &amp; Bros" src="http://carryology-assets.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/Woolrich-John-Rich-Bros1.jpeg" alt="" width="415" height="190" /></a></p>
<p>Note: If we got this wrong, and this was in fact designed independently, please let us know. We checked with <a href="http://alterbrooklyn.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Alter</a>, and they also believe that Woolrich has &#8216;borrowed heavily&#8217;.</p>
<p>&#8212;&#8211;</p>
<p><strong>UPDATE</strong></p>
<p>If you don&#8217;t read the comments on Carryology, you often miss out on some really rich dialogue. In the case of this wallet, we now know that Woolrich did indeed copy the Maxx &amp; Unicorn. And we have also discovered a design used amongst leather workers for many years that is most probably the inspiration for the Maxx &amp; Unicorn wallet. Here are some pictures from a 2003 journal kindly provided by one of our readers Peter (an avid leatherworker).</p>

So here's our stab at what a great wallet should do. We've even tried to make a little poster of it. <p>More discussion after the jump…</p>
<p><span id="more-147"></span></p>
<p><em><strong>1. It disappears until you need it</strong></em><span style="color: #000000;">: Small size, soft corners, and all the things that mean it won&#8217;t bulge out, get in the way, or create steady employment for your chiropractor.</span><br style="color: #000000;" /> <br style="color: #000000;" /> <strong><em>2. Access vs Storage</em></strong><span style="color: #000000;">: Quick access to the things you need frequently. Compact and efficient storage for the rest.</span><br style="color: #000000;" /> <em><strong><br />
3. The right level of protection</strong></em><span style="color: #000000;">: If you cycle to work, the thing should be water resistant. If hang at the coast, the thing should keep sand away from your cards. The wallet should have enough protection that your lifestyle won&#8217;t destroy the things inside.</span><br style="color: #000000;" /> <br style="color: #000000;" /> <em><strong>4. It should support your personality</strong></em><span style="color: #000000;">: If you go to shout the boss lunch with a velcro surf wallet, it&#8217;s a pretty hard act to pull off. Just like socks, wallets don&#8217;t often get flashed around, yet you don&#8217;t want to be busting out the Mickey Mouse numbers too often.</span><br style="color: #000000;" /> <br style="color: #000000;" /> <em><strong>5. Accommodating</strong></em><span style="color: #000000;">: There&#8217;s always going to be an impromptu hitch-hiker or two (a new SIM card, a borrowed key, or an urgent shopping list). There should be spaces to deal with these.</span><br style="color: #000000;" /> <span style="color: #000000;"> </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"><br />
What are we missing? In what priority do these elements fall for you?</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">Go on, inspire and educate us in the comments…</span><span style="color: #000000;"> </span></p>
