Arc'teryx Voltair Avalanche Airbag

Avalanche airbag packs have traditionally used compressed air cylinders, which only allow for one deployment. The Voltair however uses a rechargeable 22.2V lithium-ion polymer battery - and the benefits are awesome. Multiple deployments, enabling the user to practice deploying the airbag. The ability to recharge the battery through portable power sources, so users can stay prepared even in remote locations. Plus the battery can also be disconnected from the pack for airline transportation.

The Voltair isn't the first avalanche airbag pack to step away from compressed air cylinders, but it does so with refined and simplified design. Well done, Arc'teryx, this is a pack that pushes snow safety equipment solidly in the right direction.
