Best Active Messenger – Mission Workshop Rummy

“Reinventing the messenger format, without compromising comfort or utility”

While the messenger category is still relatively new, it has already started showing signs of stagnation, with the standard flap over format dominating most brand offers. Enter Mission Workshop, who have a habit of fundamentally rethinking how your carry gear should be made.

The Rummy is a VERY comfortable messenger to use, with straps and balance absolutely nailed. The pocketing helps with toys for work or play, the weatherproofness is very high, and it looks good enough to turn heads, but without sacrificing style or subtlety.

In their usual way, you can roll the top, or fold it forwards. Front pockets don’t borrow volume for the internals, so you don’t squash their contents. You can left or right shoulder it, and recent hardware updates have it looking even better still.

While the deluxe VX option is nice, it’s the Rummy that offers the clearest value, and wins a deserving title for the best Active Messenger for 2012.

What kind of recent hardware updates are we speaking about? Can’t see any changes on MW website.

@piotr — my guess is they mean the colored buckle options (accessories) and the arkiv flap closure on the VX series vs. the closure on the standard and limited ones? but if there’s something else, i’d love to know as well!

Yeah, spot on CuttingClass. We meant those small buckle evolutions from the first gen, which now includ the color options.
