New releases from Samsonite, a backpack that can convert into a handbag, and a limited edition backpack from Haglöfs… Intrigued? Come discover more in this Week In Review…

Samsonite lightens the load of travel hassles

Samsonite Lite-Cube spinners

In the market for some stylish new luggage? A variety of travel companions wait for adventure in Samsonite’s new Lite-Cube collection. The pieces come in a choice of colorways and are constructed using Samsonite’s lightweight Curv® material so users can pack more while still remaining within their luggage weight limits. Travelers can also benefit from TSA locks and 360-degree spinner wheels for convenient manoeuvrability while on the go.

Versatile office carry spreads its wings

BirdWalk Tweak bag

Choosing carry for the office can be tricky – sometimes you need the space provided by a backpack, whereas other times the space provided by a handbag can be enough. So do you buy two separate bags? Or perhaps one bag and hope for the best? With the BirdWalk Tweak bag, you don’t have to choose. Instead you get two bags in one, as the bag can be used as a backpack or a handbag. The slim profile of the pack keeps the style streamlined and two options are available, either the Straight Tweak or the Laptop & Tablet Tweak which has dedicated sections for a tablet and 13-inch laptop.

The key to convenient key carry

Button Works Revolving Keyring

The concept of a keyring is great – a small, unobtrusive item to keep all your keys together in an easy grab-and-go format. The reality of a keyring however can vary greatly from one example to the next. Some are stress-free and convenient; others are intent on taking a chunk out of your fingertip or nail at every attempt to get a key on or off. The Button Works Revolving Keyring keeps all your digits intact thanks to its construction of revolving discs that allow a key to be added when the notches in the discs are aligned. The keyring is a reproduction of a late 19th century design and is made completely out of brass.

Snow safety from Black Diamond

Black Diamond Pilot 11 JetForce Avalanche Airbag Pack

Whether you chase the snow year-round or enjoy skiing trips at set times of the year, treating the environment with respect and being aware of potential dangers is always important, particularly in more remote and wilder territories. A while back we checked out Black Diamond’s JetForce series of packs at Outdoor Retailer and now the wait is over for snow enthusiasts. Black Diamond’s Pilot 11 JetForce Avalanche Airbag Pack, Saga 40 JetForce Avalanche Airbag Pack and Halo 28 JetForce Avalanche Airbag Pack add an extra layer of safety to snowsport trips by providing airbag avalanche protection which can mean the difference between life and death if things don’t go as planned.

Centenary carry

Haglöfs Ryggsäck N:o 1

The Ryggsäck N:o 1 from Haglöfs blends the old and the new. Designed as a tribute to Haglöfs’ 100-year history, the backpack takes inspiration from the Ryggsäck N:o 6 which was created in 1916 but adds modern touches to accommodate the world of today. Only a thousand of the backpacks have been produced, each one made entirely in Sweden using Swedish materials. Hans Haglöf, the son of the founder of Haglöfs, has also been personally involved in producing each pack, adding to the history of these limited edition pieces which themselves have been created to last at least a century.
