Specialist Carry :: Swaygo Caving Pack

Specialist Carry :: Swaygo Caving Pack

It’s been a while between drinks for the Specialist Carry Category, so we figured it was time for… the Caving Pack from Swaygo. Caving is gnarly. Trying to drag and squeeze yourself through tiny openings deep underground like a trapped badger. It’s also gnarly on gear, and so it takes some pretty specialist design to keep your things safe and dry while doing it.

Caving sounds like fun or torture, depending on your liking for dank dark places. It’s also crazy dangerous, with flash floods and crazy situations often occurring. From what we’ve seen and read about the Swaygo, it looks pretty good if you’re into spelunking/potholing. We came across the Swaygo via a well written round up over at KK. For a real detailed read, head over there. For some quick points about the bag that we like, keep reading…

Firstly, it’s a roll top bottom, yep, it rolls up from the bottom – which minimises the bulk at the top of the pack when crawling or duck-walking. Quack. It’s made out of a polyurethane impregnated and coated nylon that you will have trouble destroying, tearing and trashing – perfect for dragging along cave floors.

The strapping is pretty interesting. It’s a grommet/carabiner set up whereby you hook a carabiner thru the grommet up top and also on the sides – meaning you can be flexible with your strap length. For example, you could drag the bag behind you when crawling thru a low space.

Anyone out there a caver who has used it?

Again, for the more detailed round up hit up KK.
