Best Specialist Results :: Carry Awards IV
Transporting bikes can end up a little bit like a musician transporting an expensive instrument in a poor quality bag. Makeshift padding, bedraggled boxes, string and tape...it's not going to end well. A bike worth transporting on your travels merits proper carry protection, and the EVOC Bike Travel Bag Pro delivers. Building on EVOC's Bike Travel Bag, the Pro version offers sturdier but lighter construction (reducing the weight by 500g), with wheel, base and front handle improvements.
The design includes strategically placed rods and plates and foam padding for boosted protection and can fit a range of bikes, so you're good to go whether the trails or the road are calling. If you need to transport a bike, the Bike Travel Bag Pro is a great option for helping you pack it down to a more compact and travel-friendly form. Congratulations, EVOC!
These are the pieces that just missed out, and in most cases, by the smallest of margins. To them, we award a High Commendation. The below were of outstanding quality, displaying fine craftsmanship and design flair. With honour, we bow our heads in the upmost respect and kudos. If this were a dias, they’d be biting their teeth into silver medals, while their flags were hoisted into the horizon – a feat not to be overlooked. And we're sure they’ll be back, to take it one notch higher, next year.
Avalanche airbag packs have traditionally used compressed air cylinders, which only allow for one deployment. The Voltair however uses a rechargeable 22.2V lithium-ion polymer battery - and the benefits are awesome. Multiple deployments, enabling the user to practice deploying the airbag. The ability to recharge the battery through portable power sources, so users can stay prepared even in remote locations. Plus the battery can also be disconnected from the pack for airline transportation.
The Voltair isn't the first avalanche airbag pack to step away from compressed air cylinders, but it does so with refined and simplified design. Well done, Arc'teryx, this is a pack that pushes snow safety equipment solidly in the right direction.
