Timbuk2 Office Visit

This was an interesting one, and quite enjoyable – who doesn’t like a beer while being shown thru some amazing office space. TImbuk2 make messengers, bags and other carry items, are based in the glorious city of San Francisco and have a kick ass custom program happening in their offices.

You can read up a whole lot more on Timbuk2 over at their site, but for now, their offices are the topic. Which are fun, impressive and pretty awesome. We got shown around by Lizzy, who considering we’d never met in person was super friendly and accommodating to any weird/wonderful questions we asked and let us take a huge run of photos. Some of the photos are shown here, but more are over on the Carryology Facebook page.

Upon entering the space you see bikes on bikes on bikes. Timbuk2 encourage their team riding to work – there’s some neat bike hangers just inside that stop any clutter/bike stacks. Next you will see an eerily simliar Dr Who Telephone Booth (The Tardis!), some nice green plants and more then likely a super friendly, fluffy sleepy dog. It will gaze up at you in an attempt to get patted.

There’s a neat looking showroom that has all the latest and greatest on show. Beyond that is the kitchen.dining area for the team, in here there’s a large run of booths to eat, cruise, get hammered at. Yep, get drunk, drink beer, be merry. Tikbuk2 have a keg on tap in the offices. And taking that concept one step further, they have a staff program happening where a staff member gets to choose the beer that will be on tap for the month! So a different beer each month – glorious.

The thing that really set the visit apart for us was the customisation program Timbuk2 have happening in there. Out the back there is a team of workers who slice, dice, construct and create all sorts of custom ideas from consumers – some a little garish, some bang on the money. Either way, it’s pretty impressive what goes on out the back.

You can come in (or create via online and have it sent to you) and create your own set up (typically a messenger) and then choose from the materials, colors and hardware on offer to create your masterpiece – remember beauty is in the eye of the beholder. We didn’t get to make one, but might have something exciting in store for you shortly…

There’s also a complete album (with a stack more images) over on the Carryology Facebook page.

Stoked to host you at our headquarters in San Francisco. We’re just disappointed your shot of our leopard wallpapered bathroom didn’t make the cut! See you on your next trip to the city. Cheers!

I think seeing the spaces that companies work in is definitely in my ‘These are a few of my favourite things’ list. :]
    Another great space!
