Drive By | Blk Pine Daypack
Road testing a bag can take a long time to nail and given all the bags that are out there, it’s kind of unfair to let so many other go without a review of some sort. Enter ‘Drive By’, a new category that allows us and you to check out more carrying products. While the Road Tests will continue in their detailed format, Drive By’s are more for a quick glance at a bag, answering a couple of basic questions with a few images.
First up is the Blk Pine Workshop Daypack, which was given a quick once over by Carryology contributor Brian Park. Come take a Drive By…
Brian bought the pack for his Mrs from the stellar guys at Four Horsemen, a great online store (more on them in a later post tho). The daypack is American made with American made materials and the construction. While effective, it’s not highly sophisticated in construction.
The sloping bottom gives the bag a difference from an aesthetic standpoint, and it’s quite sleek and ‘neat’. The straps may be a little too close for anyone that is of a bigger build, but they’re wide enough that you could chamfer them down. Overall it’s a basic bag, but built bomber and is cute as a button. (Ed: Cute as a button? Who let that thru the editing process!? haha)
Brian was initially attracted to Herschel, but after some disappointment seeing them in the flesh, ultimately went with the Blk Pine and his girl is really happy with the decision!

I agree with Brian’s thoughts on Herschel. Interesting designs with less emphasis on quality. Thanks for pointing this out. This bag seems similar in that regard.
I would love to see some lined simple backpacks made stateside (with straight seams). People love that made in the USA tag. Price?
