Dig or Diss | Airport Laptop Issues
So this is a Diss, we never like talking ill about anything carry. But it does suck when your laptop doesn’t fit into the trays provided at most of the airports…
Even if you try to follow all of Ryan Bingham’s rules of travel, you can still get caught with an oversized laptop for the tray that is provided. And the worst thing about that is the fear that your laptop will fall out of the tray, get caught on any edges/corners or just make it more cumbersome/time sapping to get thru security gates at the airports.
Is it really that hard to provide trays that can comfortably fit a 17inch laptop? Given how common they are becoming…

I find 17 inch laptop too big to travel with. They are monsters! If anyone is prepared to lug one around on a trip, they should be prepared to deal with the hassle. That’s why Steve Jobs made the iPad!
Hey Pu,
Yep, those 17inchers are huge, but there are a lot of designers who still travel/work with them. Hopefully the iPad will step up as the go between but right now we think it’s still got a little growing to do before we would replace out MBP with one…
Still, I’d love one as a reader and nighttime browser haha
do you have one? good exp?
I agree w/ Pu. 17″ laptops are not fun to lug around anywhere, and an airport especially. This might solve one problem, but there will be 100 more. Try to open that sucker on the plane, you won’t even be able to get the screen to tilt back to see it.
Note* The iPad is at it’s best in airports and airplanes.
hey Trevor,
agree with you there, they aren’t fun to lug around. but like we said above in reply to Pu, there are still quite a lot of people using them – that glorious big screen makes designing so much easier on the eye.
have you used the iPad in transit, etc? if so, how have you found it?
